Violin Making
“In Mittenwald heaven’s full of violins” – in the true sense of the word.
Violins are displayed everywhere in the windows or on the balconies of our violin makers and the sun terrace of the violin making school for trying and darkening. Ever since the 18th century the “Mittenwalderinnen” (Mittenwald violins) receive an international adoration. The worldwide reputation of Mittenwalds violins is to be indebted to the Mittenwald violin maker Matthias Klotz (1653 – 1743), who brought his craftsmanship and inspiration from Italy to his home town.
